Wednesday, June 6. 2007Telling the stories of our lives: Undesirable Elements in the Bronx & Manhattan Talking about oneself is the easiest and the hardest thing one could possibly do; the easiest, because one knows one's own story better than anyone else; but the hardest, because it is difficult to summarize a half century of experience in a matter of 15 minutes or less. Talking about oneself in front of an audience of three hundred or more people can be a particularly daunting experience, and I must admit that my heart was pounding when the six of us went on stage for the premiere of "Undesirable Elements" on April 21 at the Queens Theatre in the Park. But after the first ten minutes, it was clear that the audience was 'with us,' and I was able to relax and even enjoy the performance.Each of my five fellow cast members has a fascinating life story, and the audience apparently found all of our stories compelling, to judge by the enormous ovation at the end of the performance on April 21. I can tell you that getting to know my fellow "Undesirable Elements" cast members has been the highlight of the year.
